UNCLAIMED ADVERTISED ESTATES FALLEN TO THE CROWN IN SCOTLAND SINCE 22 AUGUST 2003

UNCLAIMED ADVERTISED ESTATES FALLEN TO THE CROWN IN SCOTLAND SINCE 22 AUGUST 2003

Any blood relative of a person listed below who wishes to claim that person's estate should apply to the Commissary Department of the Sheriff Court in the area in which the person lived, for appointment as executor dative on the basis that he or she is a specified blood relative of the person and for the Confirmation of the estate.

The Commissary Department or a solicitor will advise on how to obtain Confirmation and the legal duties of an executor dative.

If Confirmation is obtained, that document and the order of the court appointing the applicant as executor - dative (if applicable) should be forwarded to The Queen's and Lord Treasurer's Remembrancer Office, Unit 5, 14a South St Andrew Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2AZ along with a copy of the executed (signed and dated) Bond of Caution, proof of the executor dative's identity, in the form of original current photographic identification along with a recent original utility bill and original certificates showing the blood line accompanied by a written explanation of the blood line (family tree) in chart form which should be as clear and concise as possible. On receipt of these documents, the QLTR Office will pay out the estate funds to the executor dative for that estate (it should be noted successful claims are paid out by BACS bank transfer and therefore this Office will require bank details including sort code and account number).

Please quote the relevant QLTR reference number when forwarding the original Confirmation document.

Please note:

In addition to being removed from this list if claimed, from 1 January 2008, unclaimed estates will be removed from this list 10 years after the date of death, or 2 years after date of first advertisement in the Edinburgh Gazette, whichever is the later.

It is the QLTR's policy to accept claims only either within 10 years of date of death or 2 years of first advertisement, whichever is the later
