SECTION 12

Classes of Information

Where a class of information is included in the publication scheme it commits COPFS to making all of the information contained in the class available to the public, subject to any exemptions under the legislation. Some material in certain classes may be withheld if its release would prejudice the investigation or prosecution of crime or the investigation of sudden, unexpected or suspicious deaths, these being the core functions of this Service for which there are specific exemptions under the legislation. However, we will where possible make available as much information as possible and will advise you if some information within a particular class is being withheld. If a document listed within a class has been edited to remove exempted information we will advise you of that fact and the exemption or exemptions under which the deleted information falls.

Listed below are the classes of information which COPFS publishes or intends to publish. All information listed under these classes is, except where indicated, available upon request.

Under each class there can be found:

  • A brief description of the information available within the class;
  • An indication of how the information is made available (for example, on the website or by post);

The classes of information are grouped in the scheme under broad headings to describe the type of information you can expect to find. Under each broad heading there are identifiable classes of information that COPFS publishes or intends to publish. The broad headings into which we have grouped classes of information this scheme are listed below.
