Convicted Murder's Appeal Against Conviction Refused

The Appeal Court today refused the appeal against conviction lodged by murderer William Beggs following his brutal murder of Ayrshire teenager Barry Wallace in December 1999.

HMA v Paul Lyons

At the High Court in Glasgow today, 27-year-old Paul Lyons pled guilty to causing the death of Mark Fleeman on the M74 at Larkhall in June last year and attempting to defeat the ends of justice by fleeing to Spain shortly after the incident.

Procurator Fiscal at Alloa v MacRae, McKellican and Wheater

At the Sheriff Court in Alloa today, Elliot MacRae (39), Leigh Wheater (32) and Lee McKellican (21) were given football banning orders for 5 years, 3 years and 1 year respectively having been previously found guilty of being involved in January 2009 of football related violence by fighting with rival football supporters and committing a breach of the peace

The murder of Robert Rose

At the High Court in Glasgow today John Campbell was convicted of the murder of Robert Rose, and of attempting to defeat the ends of justice. Stephen Crummack was convicted of culpable homicide and attempting to defeat the ends of justice. Sentencing has been deferred in respect of both accused until 30th March 2010 at Glasgow High Court.
