Coal mining company fined £10,000 for breach of environmental law

Aardvark TMC Ltd was today fined £10,000 after pleading guilty to an offence under the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004 section 19(3) and (5) at Ayr Sheriff Court.

HMA v Frost & McIntosh

At Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court today, Christopher Frost (DOB 12/02/88) and Alexander McIntosh (DOB 12/07/91) pleaded guilty to a various offences including two offences of malicious mischief to properties in Kirkcudbright, and in particular to the damage caused to the cemetery in Kirkcudbright on the night of 21 June 2010.

Man found guilty of attempting to murder baby

At the High Court in Livingston , Raymond McPhee was found guilty of attempting to murder a six-week old baby in August 2008. He was also found guilty of wilfully neglecting the child by failing to seek medical attention

HMA v Syd Beg

At the High Court in Edinburgh today, Syd Beg (DOB 27/02/1956) was sentenced to seven years and 10 months imprisonment, with an additional five years’ extended sentence, after pleading guilty on 22 April 2010 to two charges of sexual offences against children.

HMA v Jason Kinnaird

At the High Court in Glasgow today Jason Kinnaird pled guilty to the murder of Johnny Moran

Two men fined £300 each for killing rabbits with dogs at children’s play park

Two men have admitted capturing three wild rabbits and then using dogs to kill them at a children’s play park in Dumfries. Stewart Graham and Paul Strilciw pleaded guilty to causing suffering to the animals under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 section 19(2) at Dumfries Sheriff Court on 25 June 2010

Lauchlan and O'Neill convicted of murder of Allison McGarrigle

At the High Court in Glasgow today, William Lauchlan and Charles O’Neill were convicted of murdering Allison McGarrigle and defeating the ends of justice by concealing her body and disposing of it into the sea. In addition, details of their conviction at the High Court in Glasgow in May 2010, for the sexual abuse of young boys, can be made public for the first time today.

Lord Advocate visits newly refurbished Aberdeen PFO

The Lord Advocate, the Right Honourable Elish Angiolini QC, today visited and opened the newly refurbished Procurator Fiscal’s Office in Aberdeen. The Lord Advocate was joined at the opening by the Area Procurator Fiscal for Aberdeen Anne Currie and District Procurator Fiscal Stephen McGowan. The office, in Guild Street, underwent months of refurbishment work between October 2009 and May this year.
