At the High Court in Glasgow today, Craig Roy was found guilty of the murder of Jack Frew. The jury found him guilty unanimously following a 12-day trial.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court today, David Craig (DOB 26/09/1987) pled guilty to posting sectarian messages on a social networking site. The court heard that between 2 March and 14 March 2011 Craig, from Paisley, posted a number of messages on Facebook of an offensive, threatening, abusive and sectarian nature. He had also uploaded an image of Celtic manager Neil Lennon which had been altered to simulate him having been shot a number of times.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court today, a Confiscation Order for £75,000 was made against Edward Lyons (DOB 14-02-1958). Lyons, from Glasgow, had previously pleaded guilty to two mortgage frauds and transferring criminal property. He was sentenced to 300 hours community service.

The pilot, which will initially run at Edinburgh Sheriff Court for a 4 month period, will test the potential benefits of using mobile phone text (SMS) messages, in order to remind Crown witnesses of the date they are due to attend court.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court today, Lanarkshire Health Board was fined £24,000 for a breach of Section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, which led to the serious illness of a hospital patient. Over the course of November 2008, the 64-year old female patient at Hartwoodhill Hospital became gravely unwell.

At Lanark Sheriff Court today, Andrew Mullen pled guilty to keeping five dogs for the purposes of animal fighting, contrary to the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006, section 23(1)(a). Mullen, from Uddingston, Lanarkshire, was also found to have 340 photographs on a laptop showing dogs fighting with foxes, badgers and other dogs.
The murder of Surjit Singh Chhokar in 1998 is being reviewed by the Crown Office. Strathclyde Police have now been instructed to carry out further investigation into his murder under the Double Jeopardy legislation introduced in November last year. The family of Mr. Chhokar were informed today of the Crown’s decision by the Lord Advocate, Frank Mulholland QC and the Solicitor General for Scotland, Lesley Thomson QC, at a meeting in the Crown Office, Edinburgh.
A Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI) will be held into the death of infant Declan Hainey. The Procurator Fiscal at Paisley will apply to the Sheriff Court for the holding of the Inquiry. Declan Hainey was last seen alive aged 15 months. His body was discovered in March 2010, when he would have been 23 months old, in a flat in Paisley. His mother, Kimberley Hainey, was found guilty and convicted of his murder on 15 December 2011 by a Jury at Glasgow High Court and sentenced to life imprisonment on12 January 2012.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, a Confiscation Order for £35,000 was made against Matthew Muir (DOB 08.04.1981). Muir, from Edinburgh, had previously pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine. He was sentenced to 300 hours community service.

Lady Stacey has today issued her opinion in a long-running civil recovery case involving Russell Stirton and Alexander Anderson. Lady Stacey has decided that property sought by the Scottish Ministers, including Mr Stirton and Mr Anderson's family homes and other assets (independently valued in 2009 at over ?900,000) were obtained through crime of the types described. Lady Stacey will pronounce a formal order transferring ownership of the property to a person nominated by the Scottish Ministers who will sell the property and remit the proceeds to the Scottish Consolidated Fund.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court today, a Confiscation Order for £480,000 was made against Stephen Dunn (DOB 31/03/1966). Dunn, from Bellshill, Lanarkshire, previously pled guilty to evading VAT on tobacco under the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979 section 170(2)(a). He also admitted an offence under section 327(1)(a) of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 for concealing £51,285 of criminal property.

A forfeiture order has been made under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 against Thomas Conway in respect of 88,950 euros (£73,000). On 28 April 2011 Conway, from Lincoln (DOB 31/12/1952), was stopped by police officers as he disembarked the ferry from Northern Ireland at Cairnryan Port, near Stranraer. Hidden in various locations in his car the officers found 88,950 euros in cash. Conway admitted that he was carrying the cash for an unnamed third party.
A forfeiture order has been made under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 against Elliot Paul Birchall and James Conley in respect of £97,250

His body was discovered in March 2010, when he would have been 23 months old, in a flat in Paisley. His mother was found guilty and convicted of his murder on 15 December 2011 by a Jury at Glasgow High Court.
