Unduly lenient sentence appeal

APPEAL LODGED - ANDREW JAMES GOLDIE

The Lord Advocate has today lodged an appeal against the sentence imposed on Andrew James Goldie (24) who pled guilty on indictment at Dumfries Sheriff Court to assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

On 14 August 2007 the court sentenced the accused to 12 months imprisonment in respect of this crime, dating from 14 May 2007.

The Lord Advocate has the right of appeal against a sentence on the ground that it is unduly lenient.

Andrew James Goldie pled guilty to attending at the victim's home address and repeatedly slashing the victim on the neck with a Stanley knife causing an injury to the victim's neck which required to be treated with 10 stitches and which has resulted in permanent scarring.
