New Appointment to Lead Team Dealing with Serious Crime

An experienced prosecutor has been appointed to lead the team responsible for dealing with all potential Sheriff and Jury and High Court cases in Stirling and Alloa. Alistair Duncan takes up post this week, reporting to the District Procurator Fiscal, Bill Craig.

Mr Duncan will head a team made up of a Procurator Fiscal Depute, a trainee Procurator Fiscal, three Precognition Officers, an administrative manager and five administrative support staff. The team deals with some of the most serious cases in the Stirling and Alloa area, including sexual abuse; knife crime; and murder.

Mr Duncan has been a prosecutor in the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service since 2003, and most recently worked in the Glasgow Procurator Fiscal office.

Mr Duncan said:

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve communities in Stirling and Alloa, and look forward to working with Central Scotland Police and the Scottish Court Service to ensure we continue to provide a swift, effective response to the most serious crimes in our society.

"Thankfully, the vast majority of people will never have any experience of this type of crime, but where these offences are committed, communities must have confidence that the perpetrators will be swiftly brought to justice."

Geri Watt, the Area Procurator Fiscal for Central, said:

"I am very pleased to welcome Alistair to the Stirling and Alloa offices. I am confident that, along with our experienced and committed staff, he will continue to improve the service that we deliver to the public."
