Capability Scotland Questionnaire
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is inviting disabled people who have accessed the Scottish Criminal Justice System to tell them about their experiences and the issues they may have faced.
In partnership with Scotland's leading disability organisations and other criminal justice agencies, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has now asked Capability Scotland to conduct a poll through the charity's website. You can take part by completing the questionnaire on the
Capability website.
The findings of the poll will be used to inform the work of the Justice Disability Steering Group (JDSG) which is committed to improving disabled people's access to the Scottish justice system - both civil and criminal. By inviting people who have disabilities to comment on their personal experience we can learn about the issues they face and draw on their skills to address these.
The JDSG includes representatives from the Scottish Government, the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, the Scottish Court Service, the Law Society of Scotland, the Scottish Legal Aid Board and the Scottish Prison Service.
To help achieve its aims, the group has formed a collaborative partnership with leading disability organisations interested in the justice process - Capability Scotland, Inclusion Scotland, Scottish Disability Equality Forum, Scottish Association of Mental Health, Guide Dogs Scotland, Scottish Consortium on Learning Disabilities and Scottish Council on Deafness.
The JDSG is committed to improving effectiveness and efficiency across the justice sector. This collaboration will offer a wider perspective and enable us to identify what changes are required in each specific organisation.
We have appointed Capability Scotland to manage this poll on behalf of the JDSG and all its partners. We would therefore encourage you to visit the
Capability website and complete the survey.
