Approach to Main Entrance: On entering the main doors to the building there are three steps up to a small landing. Assistance may be required to manage two sets of double doors leading to the main hallway of the building, where there is a further door to the Procurator Fiscal's Office.

Alternative access for disabled people or people with mobility difficulties is at the side of the building. There is a dropped kerb leading to a lane up the side of the building. There is a small ramp to this door and a low level bell which is connected to the Sheriff Clerk's Office.

Door Width: The front door to the building is by way of a set of double doors; each door is approximately 89 cm wide, giving a total width of approximately 1.78 metres if both doors require to be opened.

Two further sets of swing doors have to be gone through before entering the main hallway, each approximately 58 cm wide, giving a total width of approximately 1.016 metres.

Approach to Reception Area:

There is level access to the reception area; however assistance may be required to manage doors.

Door Width: door width to the reception area is approximately 80 cm.

There is seating available in the main entrance hallway. Extra seating could be provided if required. Please ask if you need extra assistance.

There is level access to ground floor interviews rooms within the court building as required.

Audible emergency alarms: a two-tone siren

Our staff have a responsibility to ensure that they accompany any visitors during an emergency evacuation to the muster point designated in local Fire Evacuation Plans. Visitors must not be left unattended and should be accompanied at all times during an emergency evacuation until the all clear is given for re-entry to the building. Where appropriate a suitable emergency evacuation plan will be in place to ensure safe evacuation of disabled persons during an emergency situation.

Please advise the local Office Manager if you have any special requirements.
