Equality and Diversity Strategy Group

This group sets the direction for COPFS Equality and Diversity Strategy and leads on our commitment to promoting equality and diversity in the provision of service and the employment of staff.

The Equality and Diversity Strategy Group is chaired by the Solicitor General and its membership includes the Head of Service (the Crown Agent); the Deputy Chief Executive; our Equality and Diversity Champion, the Heads of Corporate Divisions, such as those responsible for policy, service delivery, communications and human resources; and representative Area Procurators Fiscal.

This demonstrates strong leadership and commitment from the top of the organisation. The structure encourages open communication between all sections of the organisation and shared responsibility for implementing our
Equality and Diversity Strategy and
Equality Action Plans.

Purpose

The purpose of the Equality and Diversity Strategy Group (EDSG) is to determine the general strategic approach that COPFS should take across all strands of diversity. Its work is informed by reports from Area Diversity Teams (ADTs), from the Crown Office Diversity Team and from external sources.

Remit:

The EDSG will provide direction for COPFS equality and diversity strategy and oversee the development and application of the strategy.

The EDSG will specifically:

1. set the continuing equality and diversity strategy for COPFS;

2. lead on COPFS' commitment to promoting equality and diversity - externally & internally; and

3. oversee and monitor the delivery of an equality and diversity strategy - specifically ensuring the statutory equality duties are met.
