Unauthorised Use of Drones (14 July 2016) (R013474)

Thank you for your email dated 20 June 2016 in which you requested the following information under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA): 



1   whether in the last two years whether there has been any prosecutions and subsequent convictions of individuals in relation to the unauthorised use of drones in Scotland. The relevant legislation is the Civil Aviation Act 1982 and the Air Navigation Order 2009.

2.   whether there are any outstanding cases still to proceed to Trial in relation to the unauthorised use of drones in Scotland.

I can confirm that in the two years preceeding your request, there were no prosecutions raised by COPFS   under the Civil Aviation Act 1982 and the Air Navigation Order 2009 in relation to the use of unauthorised drones in Scotland.  Consequently, there have been no convictions.

There are currently no outstanding cases still to proceed to trial under the Civil Aviation Act 1982 and the Air Navigation Order 2009 in relation to the use of unauthorised drones in Scotland.
