Thank you for your request dated 6 July 2016 under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) and your request for a review of that request dated 18 August 2016.
We were alerted to this correspondence when the Office of the Scottish Information Commissioner contacted us on 1 November 2016.
Although your correspondence had been received by COPFS, it had unfortunately not been identified as an FOI request and accordingly was not responded to. Please accept my sincere apologies for this and be assured that measures are now in place to ensure this does not happen again.
You requested the undernoted information:
“A) A statistical count that would show the number of employees employed by COPFS who are none caucausian and employed to work at COPFS.
B) Information that would show how many none caucausian people have applied for a job at COPFS and have been rejected.
C) Information that would show what attempts have been made to advertise job applications to person who are none caucausian for a position at COPFS.
D) Information that would show what areas within UK Scotland have such advertisements at C been advertised.”
I can advise that the term “caucasian” is not one which is used by COPFS to record ethnicity, however, we have interpreted this to mean “white”, which is a term used by COPFS to record ethnicity and the information is provided on that basis.
In respect of point A of your request, I can confirm that the information currently recorded by COPFS is that there are 56 employees who have declared themselves as from a non-white background. For completeness, we also have 50 employees who have not provided a response and 27 employees who prefer not to answer.
I attach a table which provides the information requested at point B of your request. This information relates to applications received in the last 12 months (October 2015-October 2016). For completeness, this table also provides information on persons who have preferred not to answer this question and where the information is unknown.
||Prefer not answer
In respect of Point C of your request, targeted recruitment is not something which COPFS currently undertake in relation to ethnicity and accordingly there is no information to consider for Point D of your request
