Freedom of Information: Children and Young Persons Act 1937, Section 12 (R01006)
Thank you for your e-mail of 24 March 2015 in which you requested the following information under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA):
“Over the same periods I would be interest to know the breakdown by gender of the accused in cases were proceeded as a comparison.”
As explained previously, COPFS uses a live operational case management system. It is designed to meet our Department’s business needs in relation to the processing of cases and the information within it is structured accordingly. We do not have a separate statistical database and hold only operational data needed for business purposes. That said we have been able to retrieve from the electronic system the statistical information you have requested.
The table below contains the number of charges reported under the Children and Young Persons Act 1937, Section 12 in which court proceedings were raised between 2012 and 2014, broken down by gender.
I should emphasise that these figures refer to the number of charges and not the number of people reported, due to the way that data is recorded by COPFS.
