Freedom of Information: Handling of FOI requests (R010684)
Thank you for your email dated 20 June in which you asked the following questions under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002:
“Can you tell me if you hold in record your response times, or any other FOI stats you currently hold. Also I would like to know if any plans have been made or are being made in order to improve the service you provide to this extremely important service that gives the people you work for (the public) a means to finding information? In saying that would you like to make comment on this service?”
Since April 2013, Scottish public authorities have been providing the Scottish Information Commissioner with data about the information requests they receive on a quarterly basis via a statistics portal. You can view the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) information directly on their website at
Since June 2013, FOI requests have been handled by a dedicated unit within COPFS. This has allowed us to streamline processes and provide an improved service to the public. COPFS takes very seriously its responsibility to provide accurate and timely responses to requests for information. To this end, we constantly monitor performance and provide regular updates to senior management.
