Thank you for your e-mail of 21 April 2017 in which you requested the following information under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA):
"I would like to make a Freedom of Information request for information contained in overseas travel of COPFS staff in the past two years to the date of this FOI request, costs of trips, numbers of staff attending, duration, destinations and expenses claims."
I can advise that from 30 April 2015 to 31 March 2017, there have been a total of 106 overseas flights undertaken by COPFS staff. I should explain that due to the way we now record this type of information on our system we are able to provide origin airports, destination airports, flight costs, the numbers of journeys booked and the duration of the stay and this information is detailed at Annex A attached.
Associated hotel costs amounted to £7,624.18
In relation to expenses claims, the costs of locating, retrieving and providing the information requested would exceed the upper cost limit of £600. Under Section 12 of FOISA public authorities are not required to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying would exceed the upper cost limit, which is currently set at £600 by Regulations made under Section 12.
In order to provide you with information regarding expenses claims relative to the information provided in Annex A, COPFS staff would be required to conduct manual examination of numerous records of expenses claims over the past two years and the time taken to complete this task would exceed the upper cost limit.
