The Lord Advocate is hosting an International conference on Cold Cases bringing together world experts in this area of work.
The two day event which starts at Tulliallan today (Thursday 12 November) will allow experts in prosecution and policing techniques to come together with specialists in forensic science to examine the latest breakthroughs and discuss how they can be used to convict those who have evaded justice for many years.
Since the Crown set up its Cold Case Unit some of Scotland's most high profile cases have been resolved.
The conference will hear how the killers of Greenock teenager Elaine Doyle and the World's End victims Helen Scott and Christine Eadie were finally convicted.
Some of the foremost experts in the field from the UK, Europe and the United States will also explain how recent advances can be used to ensure that justice has no sell by date.
