COPFS, Police Scotland and Scottish Borders LGBT Equality last night hosted an LGBT community event of discussion and engagement to listen to people’s experiences of hate crime and the criminal justice system.
This is the second in a national series of community engagement events being hosted jointly by COPFS and Police Scotland.
The aim of the event, held in the Borders, was to encourage the LGBT community throughout Scotland to engage with Criminal Justice partners in order to raise awareness of policies in relation to hate crime and special measures for witnesses giving evidence in court.
It also helped demystify uncertainties regarding the criminal justice system explored COPFS policies to ensure they have the correct outcomes. Feedback was also received from the public regarding their experience with the criminal justice system.
