New date set for Gary McCourt appeal

A new date has been set for the hearing of the sentence appeal in the case against Gary McCourt.

The hearing will now take place at 10:00 on 13 August 2013 at the Appeal Court at Lawnmarket, Edinburgh.

McCourt was sentenced on 3 May to 300 hours Community Service

and was given a five-year driving ban after he knocked down Audrey Fyfe, 75 in Edinburgh in August 2011 and who later died from her injuries.

The Crown is lodging an appeal against the sentence on the grounds that it was unduly lenient.
