Jail for cup final disorder

A 39 year old has been jailed for nine months for carrying out an assault during a pitch invasion following the 2016 Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park.

Darren McDonald was jailed and banned from attending football matches for three and a half years after admitting carrying out the offence in May of last year.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that CCTV had captured footage of McDonald running onto the pitch after the final whistle in the Rangers versus Hibs match.

The assault, which was also captured on camera, happened after the unknown complainer had been assaulted by a third party.
McDonald ran onto the pitch and kicked the victim who was already on the ground

As well as a 9 month prison term, McDonald was given a Football Banning Order of 42 months.
