The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has been named top public sector employer in Scotland for the fifth year running and 15th overall in the UK in the 2018 Stonewall UK Workplace Equality Index.
Beginning in 2004, the Stonewall WEI measures how supportive and inclusive companies and organisations are with regard to equality for their LGBTI staff.
This year 434 organisations took part from both the private, public and third sector with COPFS ranked number 15 in the UK and remaining top of the public sector organisations in Scotland.
The official launch of the Workplace Equality Index and an awards presentation took place at a ceremony in London last night and was attended by representatives of COPFS.
Speaking ahead of the event , David Harvie, Crown Agent at COPFS said:
"I am very proud to learn that for the fifth year running the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has been identified in Stonewall's Workplace Equality Index as the top public sector organisation in Scotland.
“This fantastic result recognises our long-held commitment to developing and sustaining a diverse workforce in an environment that is welcoming and inclusive. It acknowledges our engagement with the wider LGBTI community in the development of our policies and good practice and to the vision and work of dedicated staff across the Service.
"Despite our year on year success as top public sector employer in Scotland we are not and never will be complacent. We will continue to work with colleagues in the criminal justice system to improve access to justice for the LGBTI community and to promote inclusion in the workplace.”
