At the High Court in Edinburgh today, a Confiscation Order for £680 was made against Ronald Aldred. Aldred, from Kirkliston, Edinburgh, had previously pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin. He was sentenced to four years' imprisonment. Proceedings were raised against him under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, and the benefit from his criminal conduct was calculated at £20,000.
At the High Court in Edinburgh today, a Confiscation Order for £383,222 was made against James Mangan. Mangan, from Chryston, Glasgow, had previously pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis. He was sentenced to seven years and four months' imprisonment.

At the High Court in Edinburgh today four fishermen who had previously pled guilty to landing undeclared fish at Fresh Catch Ltd and Alexander Buchan Ltd between 2002 and 2005 were the subject of confiscation orders totalling over £1,100,000. One of the orders being one of the largest ever made against an individual in Scotland.

At the High Court in Glasgow today, Scott Kerr (DOB 06/04/1990), pleaded guilty to charges of rape and attempted rape occurring in Glasgow city centre on 21 December 2012.
COPFS has today published “Hate Crime in Scotland, 2011-2012”. This brings together figures for crimes motivated by prejudice based on: Race; Religion; Disability; Sexual Orientation and Transgender Identity.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, a Confiscation Order for £45,696 was made against June Brown. Brown, from Busby, had previously pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis. She was sentenced to 250 hours community service.
At Haddington Sheriff Court today, John Martin Riva was fined £15,000 after pleading guilty to a contravention of Sections 3 and 33 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court today, a Confiscation Order for £20,000 was made against Susan Forsyth (DOB 22-01-1959).

More than £10.5 million worth of proceeds of crime has been recovered in the past year, the Solicitor General Lesley Thomson, QC, announced. The money has been put to the Scottish Consolidated Fund to be reinvested in Scottish communities via the CashBack for Communities programme.

Matthew Gonshaw, aged 49, of London was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment today at Inverness Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to the taking of 20 wild birds' eggs on the Isle of Rum between 25 May and 1 June 2011 and to being in possession of various articles for the purposes of committing wildlife offences on 1 June 2011.

Steven Paterson, of Glenrothes, was sentenced to a Community Service Order of 160 hours today at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, after pleading guilty to various offences of trading in endangered species. The specimens that were being offered for sale have been forfeited by the court and will be given to the National Wildlife Crime Unit to use for educational purposes.

At Stirling Sheriff Court, a Confiscation Order for £27,000 was made against William McVey.McVey, from Stirling, had previously pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of amphetamine and cannabis. He was sentenced to 27 months imprisonment.

At the Court of Appeal in Edinburgh today, Paul Donnachie failed in his bid to overturn his conviction for desecrating the Israeli flag and making offensive comments.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has today issued guidance on the intentional or reckless sexual transmission of, or exposure to, sexually transmitted infections. The policy has been drawn up in consultation with the Public Health Sector and other interested groups, including the Terrence Higgins Trust, HIV Scotland and the National AIDS Trust. COPFS has benefitted substantially from their input and expertise.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, a Confiscation Order for £17,488.73 was made against Eric Gorman (DOB 8.9.61).
