Paul Patrick, of Ballater, Aberdeenshire, was found guilty of 19 charges, including multiple rapes and sexual assaults, following a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.
The 61-year-old businessman targeted the victims at locations across Scotland, including at his pet shop in Aboyne, between 2006 and 2023.
The prosecution showed that Patrick used the same pattern of behaviour to get close to the six victims and gain access to them.
He then exploited their individual vulnerabilities. He manipulated and exploited these women and girls, often with promises of love and marriage.
The court also heard how Patrick used his links to the go-karting circuit to abuse one of the children.
Patrick was also found guilty of breaking bail conditions involving a third woman.
On 27 May 2026, at the High Court in Edinburgh, Patrick was given an Order for Lifelong Restriction (OLR).
He must serve a minimum of eight years and six months in custody before he can be considered for release into the community by the Parole Board.
He has been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely with non-harassment orders also granted.
Faye Cook, Procurator Fiscal for High Court Sexual Offences, said:
“Paul Patrick poses a significant danger to women and girls, and his offending has inflicted lasting trauma.
“Evidence led by our prosecutor showed a clear pattern of behaviour that he used which allowed him to gain access to these victims and then perpetrate his crimes against them.
“It is thanks to them sharing their experiences that Patrick will now face the consequences of his depraved actions.
“This prosecution sends a clear message to those who abuse women and children that they cannot hide from justice.
“COPFS will continue to do all that we can to hold perpetrators to account while supporting those affected through the prosecution process.”
