It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

As a mark of respect the head of the judiciary has instructed that, following the conclusion of essential business, all courts in Scotland will be adjourned on Friday 9 September.

From Monday 12 September the majority of Court and tribunal business will continue during the period of mourning. There may be additional impacts upon the courts in Edinburgh.

The Lord Advocate has sent condolences to the Royal Family and published a statement.

Any further information on arrangements at court buildings, changes to scheduled business and operations during the mourning period can be found at the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service website.
