Marwan Al-Bakr was found guilty of attacking the 15-year-old near Hampden Park Football Stadium in Glasgow on 14 February 2022.
The now 32-year-old first approached the victim while she was sitting at a bus stop before leading her to a secluded grassy area.
He then subjected her to a serious sexual assault.
The victim managed to raise the alarm a short time later and a police investigation was launched.
Al-Bakr was found to have left the United Kingdom in the days following the attack.
He was later traced in the Lathen area of Germany and returned to Scotland on 5 October 2023.
On 12 May 2025, at the High Court in Stirling, Al-Bakr was sentenced to eight years in prison.
He will remain on licence for a further five years following release, during which time he will be subject to close monitoring and supervision.
His name has been added to the sex offenders register indefinitely.
He was also made subject of a lifetime non-harassment order.
Katrina Parkes, Procurator Fiscal for High Court Sexual Offences, said: “Marwan Al-Bakr poses a significant danger through his predatory behaviour.
“I am grateful to the victim for coming forward. It is because of her that Al-Bakr will now face the consequences of his actions.
“We are committed to tackling sexual abuse against women and children.
“I hope this prosecution sends a clear message to those who commit this type of offending - you cannot hide from justice.
“We will do everything within our power to ensure you are held accountable.
“I would urge anyone affected by similar crime to report it and seek support when they are ready to do so.”
