The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has today published a practice statement on notification and information sharing in significant cases with constitutional office holders, and a practice statement on the recusal of law officers in cases involving politicians.
Together, they set out the principles and processes that apply when information about significant cases is shared with constitutional office holders, such as the Prime Minister or First Minister, and how actual or perceived conflicts of interest involving the Law Officers are identified and managed.
Previous case updates from Law Officers to Scottish and UK Governments between 1997 and 2026 are available as a pdf.
