Two men jailed for turning terraced house into drugs den

Two men who turned a terraced house into a secret £500,000 cannabis farm have been jailed for more than three years each following a prosecution by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.

Ban Nguyen, 53, and Long Le, 33, both from Vietnam, cultivated cannabis inside nearly every room in the terraced flat in Dundee.

They were each sentenced to 40 months imprisonment at Dundee Sheriff Court after admitting being concerned in the supply of cannabis and producing it at the property.

Helen Nisbet, Procurator Fiscal for Tayside, Central and Fife, said:

“These two individuals have been brought to account for serious crimes.

“They are now serving prison sentences thanks to an extensive police operation, working with COPFS, to investigate and disrupt a network of drug supply.

“With each case of this kind we can help reduce the harm that these drugs inflict on Scotland’s communities.”

The drugs factory was discovered in January of this year after police, acting on intelligence, carried out a raid.

Inside, they found that most of the rooms were being used for cannabis cultivation.

One upstairs bedroom was being used as a drying room.

In total, 510 plants were recovered with a street value of £382,000.

The two men had also harvested more than 30lb of cannabis with a value of £143,060 and were drying it for onward sale when officers arrived at the property.
