Attending court during the period of mourning and on Monday 19 September

Information for those due to attend court in the period of mourning or day of the Queen's funeral

Arrangements and events following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II have now been confirmed in Scotland and more widely.

We have previously published arrangements for attending court on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 September. Outside of those arrangements if you are due to attend court during the mourning period until the day of the funeral you should do so as planned.

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will take place on Monday 19 September. This has been announced as a bank holiday and the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service have advised that no courts or tribunals will sit on that day. Arrangements are being made for all sheriffdoms to hold custody courts on Saturday 17 September.

If you have been cited to attend court on Monday 19 September you should no longer attend. Business scheduled for this day will be rearranged. The new dates will be communicated to you in due course.
